Wisdom Teeth

Last year at a dental checkup (I hadn't had a checkup for a long, long time prior) my dentist informed me that all 4 of my wisdom teeth were emerging.

The left upper and lower were erupting, the right side were not quite there.

He suggested I have all 4 removed on the NHS to prevent any future problems.

Appointment came through and clashed with a work thing, so I cancelled and forgot all about it. I was a little relieved to be honest!

The last week I have had a seriously painful ulcer which looks/feels like its on the side of my gum by the upper left wisdom tooth! :( I cant close my mouth fully as it feels like its catching something. Complete nightmare! Im literally starving.

Now I'm wondering if this is just coincidence or if they really are causing a problem now - ie if it IS the cause of the ulcer? Or is it just "chance" it decided to grow there? I'm guessing they wont do the procedure until the ulcer is gone?

I'm chasing my appointment tomorrow to get them removed but I'm absolutely shi*ing a brick about this...can I request to be put out completely for the procedure?

Break my arm, no problems. Teeth pain... :puker:

Do they reallllllllly hurt, because if its just an annoyance I'd leave em be. My dentist thought that my mouth was not big enough to have wisdom teeth, and said many years ago, I'd most likely need them pulling. I've still got all four, and they have given me annoyance whilst coming through, one or two catch slightly on the inside of my mouth, one of them has a flappy bit of gum over it, and all four are not 'square'.....but they are through now, and don't bother me one bit.

Right side, no pain at all (not erupted yet I think)

Left side, slight ache when they first came through, nothing til this ulcer.

Im reading about various "conditions" which may attribute the ulcer as a result of the wisdom tooth/teeth, which is why i'm panicking - if I dont get them out they'll keep giving me gip.

But Im literally terrified of the dentist :( I wonder if the NHS will give you the choice to be knocked out?

My bottom wisdon teeth are coming through 'sideways' so the biting surface is up against the side of the molars. The dentist said they would have to be chopped out in chunks under general anaesthetic  So they will do it under general if they have to and would have thought they would if it was your preference but dont know for sure.

i had 2 nr wisdom teeth impacting (growing in squint) and were causing grieff. one cracked on the way through and general eating/sugar etc got trapped under the gum and rotted the tooth away over time. i ended up getting 3 of them removed under general anaethestic. if there getting sore, i'd suggest just getting a referal to get them out. the pain for maybe a week after the op will be way less than recurring pain for potentially years

hehehe-its horrible mate-get ko'd, that way when you wake up you'll still be out it and go back to sleep when you get home-mine got infected and i woke up with a face like a rugby ball, ended up getting four jags through the infected part which was a relief , can recollect him pulling it out and the most stinky smell ever(i've lambed sheep before who have had the lamb dead and rotting inside them for weeks but this was something else). When the jags wore off i was lying on the floor with my head in my mums hands crying like a baby wanting an ambulance -big poofta-ah well enjoy buddy:smt039

I'll find out tomorrow if I can asked to be KO'ed.

Well, I have to get another appointment first. Wonder how many years that'll take.

Been told 48hrs of no cig's as well, no sucking of any kind....maybe a good time to give up?! Knowing me I'll end up trying to snort the cig through my nose or summat.

EDIT: That last bit made me sound like a bit of a druggy, I;m not <.<
