2.5hp 10bar 50l electronic air compressor.
Is this any good, specifically for spray painting with the air gun? but generally will this do what any tom/dik/harry in their garage might wanna use it for?
Better yet has anyone got one? Any comments would be awsome cheers :D |

Actually, that won't run all air tools, I know cos I've got one.
It's the cfm's that are important with compressors, a decent spray gun will require a fair amount of air. Buy a gravity fed spray gun as they are better suited to smaller compressors as they are more efficient. I bought an impact gun for mine, supposed to require 6cfm, my compressor wouldnt run it properly so I took it back. Things like sand blasters require 10cfm's + so you've got no chance. The 50 litre tank will certainly help though. |

lol I've just read very similar to what you've typed about the cfm's It did say though that anything over 2hp will give more than 7cfm which is all thats required for gravity fed spray guns so im pleased with that.

so its not as much the compressor as the gun which is pivitol regarding spraying

True, but once you start trying to move a lot of atomised paint like the pros, you will need a bigger compressor.
It's a smooth regular supply that's important. I've done a bit of spraying with my gravity gun, had to be very much thinned to get it to spray ok. |

You will also need an oiler and evaporator for your tools, but don't get oil in your line or it will screw up your paint. for that reason I have two feeds off the compressor one with an evaporator/regulator/oiler and the second with an evaporator/regulator and different fittings so I cannot use any tool lines with my spray guns.
Besides which, I also have a pressure fed mask, don't want to be breathing oil. If you can afford it get a bigger one, probably better to buy ex industrial than a cheap little one, if of course you have the room. |
