Volume of paint required for fully faired?

Im looking at the cost of paint cans and due to the price of the paint I dont want to find I've a terrible amount of excess paint.

does anyone have any idea of what volume it takes to do the 2/3 coats required for each layer?

much depends on the application methodand thickness of the coats, but raw paint knocked back with thinners, applied through a gun, a ltr should do you.

Cheers Mark.

sorry I wasnt very specific, by cans of paint i did mean the stuff used with a compressor and air gun not rattle cans.

Is that what you've said above as 1L per layer, ie I'll need 1L of Basecoat 1L of Colour and 1L of Clear Coat or do you mean I'll need 1L total ie 350ml of all 3 listed above?

what are you meaning as base coat? are you meaning primer? as basecoats are the colour if your spraying stuff like pearlescent

2 litres of primer (its cheap), 1 litre of colour and 1.5 litres of 2 part lacquer, the lacquer comes in 1 litre of lacquer and 500ml or hardener

from what ive found the nepolean candi blue is a 3 part paint application, it assumes the suface set to be painted has already been smoothed etc. Then its a silver speckled base coat, followed by a semi translucent blue colour and finished by a clear coat.

From what I can gather, any metalic colour on a pointy is exactly the same, the only thing which changes is the colour of the semi translucent paint.

usually the blue would be the basecoat and the speckles over the top as and over coat, thats how my last pearlescent mix was, but it could be different i dont know......... either way i would say .......basecoat 1 litre, overcoat 500ml as it should only be a dust and lacquer 1 litre lacquer and 500ml hardener

reading the little bit i found on it, it says the colour coat is to be done very lightly and to be reapplied according to the colour match required. The clear coat is just to seal it against bugs etc so like any other laquer.

Cheers mush :) appreciated on the fast answers.
