Driving experience days - any recs?

My big brother turns 50 soon, and he's been dropping hints that he fancies a driving experience day. He didn't say what sort, but I think he has something involving a track in mind.

I know the quality and vfm of these things can vary quite a bit, so before we shell out, have any if you got any experience of experiences? Any good ones, or ones to avoid?

It'd really help me if we stay on topic so I don't have to sift through personal wish lists (go start another thread if you feel the need) - all helpful advice gratefully received:D

I did the everyman rally day at mallory years ago.

Was ok as you get to drive varied cars but not for long.

Most time in the car was about half an hour, spread out over an 8 hour day with lots of waiting in between...

Driving day at Thruxton & Driving Day at the Jonathan Palmer Autodrome.

Both were fantastic, the Jonatham Palmer experience however is flippin expensive.

I cant find the thread with the Thruxton Pics, but heres the one from the Jonathan Palmer day

I did one a few years back in a Ferrari 360 and a couple of hot laps in a rally spec subaru, can't remember which track I was at :D
Was good fun but wasn't in the car for long to be honest, and it was veryyy expensive.
Instead of going for the exotic cars I would probably suggest something like a lotus or similar one? Perhaps you'll get a lot more time actually driving the cars and it'll be just as much fun.

I've done an experience day at Rockingham and that was great, nice technical track (in my inexperienced opinion at any rate) so it was lots of fun. Used Lotus Elises while I was there but there were Subarus on track as well (it was a while ago). I think they also do single-seater days that use at least one of the banked turns on the Indycar track there.

Done a few through corporate days, and I have to say the Jonathan Palmer day is outrageously good, More fast cars than you can believe, and ultra professional. If you can afford it, do it.
