Clutch release assembly

Don't ask me why but I removed the two bolts holding this on, and it kind of fell apart (backing plate, spring, and off the corkscrew thing that it goes into.)

Above is the picture I took today after attempting to put it back again correctly, there is now no resistance in the clutch lever so I think I've put it back wrong. Can you see anything wrong with it or is there something I need to do in order to put it back properly?

well for a start the bracket (with the spring on) should be above the adjuster and not under it, which in turn would put the adjuster closer to the pushrod underneath, also did you loose any of the ball bearings when the corkscrew thing came out ?

Obviously being taken to bits, it's worth checking the adjustment as well.

Cheers Mark.

Ah, thanks Mark! So that bracket goes infront not behind, hopefully that will solve it. I'm pretty sure the ball bearings are all still inside, there's certianly a few in there and it moves nicey onto the corkscrew still.
There's grease inside there too, did consider putting more in but all I have is this multipurpose spray grease which comes out as liquid so not sure that was adequate and didn't want to balls it up like everything else I seem to touch on the bike. Yeah I will adjust it if needed mate, thanks again!

Yes, no resistance is die to bracket behind it instead on face. You should also go through adjustment on little screw in middle once you get it on right. That screw is what adjusts clearance for tension.

Re: Clutch release assembly

I found the bracket behind the mechanism on my bike just as Gordy's picture shows,as assembled from the factory, but if you look at a parts microfiche it would suggest that the bracket goes on the outside because they show the mounting bolt going into the bracket first. I called a friend to look in his suzuki service manual and it shows the bracket behind the mechanism ?
