sv650s 99-02 curvy EFI conversion, has it been done?

just out of curiousity and interest has anyone tried fitting the fuel injection system from the 03-06 model to the 99-02 models
being a wiz on efi i thought this maybe a good mod to do to my race bike as im always messing about with the fueling when its probably easier to write out a fuel map
on inspection of the 2 engines i noiced they are exactly the same apart from maybe the pickup flywheel and efi throttle bodies of course

any help would be appreciated

yes its a fairly simple job, just getting the parts is the hard bit along with fitting an airbox and fuel pump

loom from FI bike + relays + sensors (tipover, pressure etc..)
ECU
clocks (if you want proper tacho, FI warnings etc)
fuel tank + pump
airbox
thottle bodies
flywheel + pickup

thats abt it, not worth it i think, you can pob get a cheep crashed FI SV and track it or just buy the lot from a breakers

Why wouldn't you just use a fuel injected pointy?

to be honest mate the pointy doesnt appeal to me it looks too small and reminds me of a space ship (too futuristic looking)

plus the amount of time and money ive put into my engine and framework i wouldnt get what its worth to me if i ever sold it as its kinda of a sentimental value (passed down)

The big thing is hiding all the gubbins, you'll probably need a power commander too. More electrical draw which can be a problem if you are on wiring with no charging.
Maybe look at a megasquirt system to save power commander and stuff? Or kit to remap the stock box yourself.

Depending what series you race in it may be worth doing, you can fit ducati 749 throttle bodies which are a sight cheaper than flatslide carbs, or buy bored out TBs from Zoran at TWF which give a good power increase, again cheaper than flatsides.

use megasquirt ecu for full tuning coverage weld a boss to the fuel tank for fuel pump return use mk2 throttle bodies use aux fuel pump from rf600r or similar inline fuel filter
flywheel pickup from a mk2 sv make own wiring loom from scratch
use 14ah battery for extra cranking amps keep original clocks adapt to new race loom.
should be done by next year sometime:cool::cool:

Try fit the throttle bodies to an engine in the bike. I hear they hit the frame crossmember which means they wouldn't be minitwin legal once you done the chopping about needed.

not racing minitwins its a non class applicable racebike
