Modifying a bike - notifying DVLA and insurance?

Hey.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but:

-Would you have to tell the DVLA and Ins. provider if you converted a faired bike to a naked version? (Would require new lights)

-How would you go about registering it if you changed the bike's colour?

For those who are interested, I am going to strip the winter beast of a K100RT down to a K100 lookalike, with Cafe Racer esk lights etc...

Nothing too complex, but I doubt I'd use a massive touring bike now I have a cage (Yes yes I'm sorry, but needs must!) :smt104

Re: Modifying a Bike!

colour does need to be changed with dvla, making it a naked or other mods doesnt (unless trikeing it etc)
insurance does have to be informed about mods, hth

ps dvla will send you out a form if you ask to change colour

Is there not a section of the V5 you send off for colour change? Not got one in front of me so could, in fact, be talking out my arrse

Cheers guys.

It'll take a while, with work and like, and the fact we have a s*** garage, too far from the house, and no electricity or heating. Fun times.

Plus don't want to damage the fairing, may get something for it, you never know!

Will post pictures as I go.
