Abba vs NWS stands
Hi. Am looking for a stand that can be used one person and had settled on the Abba before seeing someone else mention NWS.
Before I buy just wondering if anyone could explain the pros/cons of either? |
Re: Abba vs NWS stands
Abba requires adaptors to fit each machine, NWS has tapered pins so it doesn't require a kit to fit each bike, (but see comment below).
NWS has a back stop so the stand is locked upright once the bike is on it, Abba doesn't and isn't as stable. Both work in the same way - they engage in the swingarm pivot to become effectively a centrestand, (a big one - oooer). I've owned both and I'd use either, but I wouldn't buy another Abba as the NWS is simply better and more stable. Some people have rightly pointed out the pins on the NWS won't engage in a solid swingarm pivot, in this circumstance put a socket on each end and secure the stand to that, I've done this many times and it's perfectly stable, and the adaptors, (such as they are), are on your socket rail already rather than being extra cost. |
Re: Abba vs NWS stands
what are the advantages of these stands over say paddock stands??

Re: Abba vs NWS stands
ten times more stable. easier to use on your own if on a slope. can fift the front end.

Re: Abba vs NWS stands
I don't think NWS stand are available any more.
I can't really see why a tapered adapters can't be used in the Abba stand for all bikes. |
