My first ride on an SV650
Well, as per title. I had my first ride on an SV650, one of the nice looking ones (curvy).
Couldn't find the keys to the BlackBird this morning because I'd put them "somewhere safe" on Sunday, I had a bit of travelling around to do today and one site has terrible car parking so needed to be a bike really so took the newly rebuilt Squirrell_Hunter2 to work. Was strange at first, like sitting on a CBR400, it felt tiny, not helped by him having raised foot pegs, clutch is quite heavy because of the HD clutch springs put in it but that was fine. I got a text from Squirrell saying when I got to work "What's it like riding a real bike" I replied "FANTASTIC, but I couldn't find the keys so I took the SV" :smt040 But to be honest, I LOVED it. It just fills you with confidence. I can't wait until it's broken in proper because I'm going to borrow it again and 'give it some large like' I might even be swayed, I'd quite like one for commuting and scratching |

Re: My first ride on an SV650
Blessed be thy SV, for it is a giant among similar sized bikes!
Had a really tough shift today, started at nine yesterday morning and involved a sleep in at the clients house last night and finished at seven PM this evening. I was at work for 35 hours, in which time I have walked six miles around Bristol, been climbing, got hit in the face with a football, punched in the kidneys, slapped in the face, kicked in the stomach, spat and verbally abused. A fairly typical shift when you work with adults with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour. Left work feeling like I could pull the heads off of bull elephants, once sat astride my lovely little SV, it just faded away. The roar from the exhaust that turns into a gentle bellow, the pull of engine as she accelerates and the feeling of utter freedom to be a hooligan lifts my heart out of the dumps. Riding takes it all away, riding the XJ is lovely, but it does not make me feel like this. My SV is my baby, she is a restricted little monster with a standard exhaust, but she sounds amazing and pulls like a train. One year to go until full power and my little monster will become the snarling beast that she is supposed to be. I would swap my mountain bike, my DVD collection and the XJ for something good, but my SV just keeps on impressing me. Damn I love her. Stretchie, do yourself a favour and try a properly set up Pointy. It will make you want one because they are lovely, it is a nice fun bike the SV, wish I had bought one years ago! Right, off to cry in the shower because even the SV has to go away sometimes and the stresses of the day are hanging in my mind like a bad smell in a lift! |
Re: My first ride on an SV650
tell ya what lad you can have a go on my thou at AR

Re: My first ride on an SV650
The SV is a perfect commuter bike, nice and light, reasonable riding position, and above all pretty cheap to run.
For me, I also didn't care if it got scratched etc while parked up etc, as it's cheap and easily replaced, but that's just my opinion :) |

New advert for the sv650, the disposable motorcycle.

Re: My first ride on an SV650
Afternoon, yeah it's a cracking little bike, always thought so and I do always mention it when people ask about a bike for a starter but just never been on one.
It's strange when you are used to sitting on a Blade or a BlackBird but it was good fun. Mr Preston.. The thou eh? I may have to take you up on that, depending on what your super secret squirrel plan turns it in to. Oh and Jayne, I might be having a go on a pointy soon young BaP from Bristol wants to do a rear shock swap so he'll be coming to ours to do it whatever he decides then me and Squirrell Hunter will obviously have to take it for a run up the road and back to see how it feels. |
Re: My first ride on an SV650
If I get a go on something interesting you can try mine with the fancy suspension at the AR or something
