Advice required re wardrobe mafunction.

No not the Janet Jackson kind...

Ordered a new wardrobe which arrived a week ago Monday, the gf took a whole day off work as their delivery time was between 8am and 6pm.

When i home I had a quick look and it wad damaged. Now it's a two man lift clearly, and the courier was by himself so that's possibly how it was damaged.

Gf took wedesday off work to wait in for the replacement, when it got here the driver said 'just had a look and it's worse than the other one so I'm not gonna even bother unloading it' great. He then said he couldn't take the original one back either due to company policy.

Now tesco are saying we need to take another day off work to wait in for the pick up driver to collect the original, damaged one. The courier can only get there at half 12 (funny how they can give a specific time now) and someone has to be in for him to get it. Just been told if I leave it round the back and it gets stolen I am liable as well. Oh and they won't issue a refund until 3-5 days AFTER they have received the wardrobe back.

Any ideas?

Note I need to give 6 weeks notice to take a day off and she cant take a third day off in two weeks really.

Any unemployed friends who are able to house/wardrobe sit for the day living local enough to help you out?

Sadly not Matt, only lived there a week and the neighbours work during the day as do the parents, nearest (and only) sister is in Birmingham unfortunately.

If its from Tescos why cant the arrange an evening collection?
They deliver food etc all evening so they must have people working.

You'd like to think so but they're 'hands are tied' as it's from an overseas supplier (based in Denmark which shuts at 15:30, handily) and so not 'directly' anything to do with tescos and therefore not their problem. Hmph indeed!

We offered to do that, a big 24 hour one but apparently their drivers can't pick up from a tesco store??

Tell them thanks butno thanks - I want a refund and I'm claiming for loss or earning beacuse your products were not fit for purpose when delivered. In writing to head office.

Tried and tried, she just kept saying sorry and she sympathised with me. I four myself saying (in a teacher style) 'Dont say you're sorry, if you were sorry you would have it sorted out! Don't say sorry unless you mean it!!' :)
