Which New Bike?

I may buy a new bike this summer - new to me anyway - and am thinking either a pointy SV, a GSXR or an SV1000. I'm looking at going to £2500-£3000 so was looking for a bit of org opinion on the matter. I've sat on all three so I know I like them all - just wondered what your thoughts were?

PS - I commute 40 miles total each day and scoot about the odd weekend here and there if that's of any interest....

i use the SV all year round for commuting nd its spot on, i cant comment on the gsxr but would assume the frost\ice isnt favorable in that riding position.

Re: Which New Bike?

I only had my SV650S pointy for a year but did commute on it most days (80 mile round trip), track day'd it and used it for scratching but I found the GSXR (K2 600) more comfortable for all the above. Winter riding was fine. However, I did miss the sound of my remus unbaffled can when filtering between tall lorries or blasting between office blocks in the City, lovely reverbs :-)

I'd go for the pointy myself, sounds just right for what you have in mind

me, i'd go for the gixxer, didn't find the sv comfy at all, good bike just used to get aches and pains, get a long test ride on whatever takes your fancy. edit, mine was a pointy s, and i'm 5ft 10.

How so? A pointy S is a worse riding position than even the smaller modern gsxrs, and the older ones are meant to be more comfortable.

im sorry to say gents but your both wrong
both statements are subject to the biggest and 2 most important variables neither of you have mentioned
first, he didnt say if the sv was a S or N just it was a pointy or possibly a thou
second, it is very size specific a short **** would find whats comfortable for a 6 footer like me bloody unbearable

hereith end the lesson

so quite in the cheap seats
buy a sv thou naked and enjoy

I haven't ridden a 1000 so can't really comment on them, but I own a gixer (K3) and I don't know if I could go back to a 650 without spending tons on improvements...

Your best bet is getting a test ride on the different bikes your interested in...

40 mile commute?

No substitute for cubes.

Big lazy V-Twin top gear thump.

SV1000S.
