Shipping prices - GSXR forks from USA?
 
I was wondering if any one can help me, im thinking about ordering some gxsr forks from the states, $140 and $80 postage. just before i clicked buy it now, i saw it noted that the duties have not been paid and the buyer must pay them. What does this mean? hot much is it? and how do i pay it if a choose to get them?

Add about 25% for the Royal Mail and Tax Mans cuts.

Sometimes you get lucky and don't get caught, sometimes they charge you duty on them. Get them to mark them as forks for spares worth $40 or something.

Also parcelfarce will try charge you handling if you do get copped, which is BS, ring them and give them a b*llocking. They're paid by the sender to get it to you and any duty to pay is between you and the tax man.

Its worthwhile noting that the first part of the advice above is Customs Fraud and could carry financial and libery based penalties.

Also dont hold your breath on the second...

The value of secondhand parts is obviously debatable, but make sure they don't have an ebay invoice in there with them!

If you know better about the parcelfarce thing then please enlighten me.

£18.00 gbp is the threshold for duty etc to be applied...

on something worth $140 you really dont need to worry to much about the duty. There should be an invoice for it to be custom's cleared.

Parcel force will pay any duty on your behalf and then charge you that amount plus a clearance fee. Anything over i think £18 should require you to pay some duty/import tax.
There is no real way around it but as its only a low value item i really would not worry about it

Note that if they are sent UPS which alot of US guys use then you will get a customs charge. You can declare the goods of a lower value but that is down to whether the seller is willing to do that and if they go missing you will only get paid for the declared value.
