Refused credit

My friend has been refused a new mobile phone contract but they did say it has nothing to do with her credit rating. Any other ideas what it maybe?

Has she ever been with that network before and had payment issues ? I know someone who got refused due to that... also when someone at a linked address had awful credit history

I once got refused a contract because I didn't have enough of a credit history...if your friend isn't prone to taking credit that may be where the issue lies...

i was refused when i was 19 as i didnt have a credit history, never quite understood it,because to have a good credit history you must have had credit, and to get credit you need a good credit history.....horrible circle of doom!!!

Electoral role. IS she on it? If not, then thats a good one for not being given credit. No address, no proof etc.

+1, although I was refused a credit card for this reason - bank adivised I get a contract mobile and earn credit there for a few months before reapplying. I did and it worked - wished I'd never done it though £3600limit and it was gone fast, took me nearly 7yrs to pay it all off :(

Might be anything, didn't meet their credit criteria - eg because of age or income. It doesn't necessarily mean that there's a bad credit history.
