Bleeding rear brake
 

I need help bleeding my rear brake.

I've swapped the master cylinder and can't get any feeling out of the lever.

At the end of the travel it just about grips the wheel but its not firm.

If I crack the bleed nipples on the calliper then I get fluid out when I pump the lever.

Any help would be appreciated.

there is two bleed nipples on the rear calliper. just keep at it mate you might just have a lot of air in there

if you can get some clear plastic tubing to fit over the bleed nipples, this lets the brake fluid through but also makes it easier to see any bubbles being released out through the bleed nipple... Just helps make it easier to spot air coming out rather than guessing whether there's still air left in there

Give the caliper a knock with a hammer covered in a cloth so it doesn't scratch it to loosen the bubbles of air from the inside and you could also try bleeding the banjo bolts too.

Just do it in the same way with pressure on the brake and tighten the bolt before you release the brake.

If your brake line has a high point before the master cylinder that could be trapping air too?

Got a syringe? Force fluid into the bleed nipple and back towards the empty reservoir. On my mates aprillia we took the whole lot off and bled it vertically, still shyte...

Hello mate,

I have always used the syringe method on my dirt bikes and its never failed until I did the rear on my Pointy SV650. Fluid pumped in from the caliper bleed via syringe and rose all the way to reservoir. Still no brake pressure/feeling.
After a lot of searching on here it appears that on a pointy you need to crack the upper bango slightly whilst bleeding.
Solved the problem immediately and now the rear brake is spot on.

So Syringe and tube from the bottom until correct level in reservoir. Syringe again whilst slackening the top (master cylinder/pedal end) bango until fluid without bubble comes out. Pre-position rag to collect spillage. Worked a treat for me.

the way i found that worked (oddly messily) was to have the bleed nipples loose with rubbers on, and pour the fluid in and pump it through until the rubbers blow off.
Once the 1st one goes tighten up the nipple and repeat.

Watch me be flamed. Worked though.
