Fitting aftermarket indys on my curvy?
 
If I was to buy some of these indicator spacers to fit some aftermarket indicators on my curvy, how long would the indicator thread have to be to fit properly.

The Oxford ones you can get for a tenner, it looks like you'd need quite a long thread.

Some aftermarket indicators flash too quickly so you may find you need to buy a couple of inline resistors to bring the flash rate down too.

I think the stem will be too short on the first set. The second set looks OK.

I made my own spacers which sit flush with the inside of the fairing. My short stem indies didn't reach so I spaced them out with a nut.

Like I say, that second set look OK but if they're still a bit short you could do likewise and space them out with a nut or a few washers.

I take it with the spacers you have 1 inside and one outside the fairing?? I'm talking about the actual threaded part of the indy being long enought to poke thru the fairing as it seem quite a deep hole.

How do you mean space them out with a nut and washer is this to make them stick out further?

AFAIK firstly domed spacer goes on outside of fairing and the second flat part goes on inside of fairing like a sandwich then indy goes through and bolted which holds it all together.

Ah, I missed what you were getting at.

As I understand it you only get one Oxford spacer for each side that fits to the inside of the fairing using the pear shaped bracket that holds the OEM indicator in place. There's therefore no problem with the thread of the indicator as it's only passing through that spacer. The Oxford product pic is confusing because it shows two packs alongside an assortment of spacers for different bikes - some dished and some flat. You only need one pack which contains two dished spacers - one for each side.

Yes, exactly that. The problem I had was the actual stem of the indicator would not reach far enough into the fairing - the body of the indicator was touching the fairing before the thread was fully through the spacer.

Its probably less of a problem with the Oxford spacer as it looks like they're dished. I've used a flat piece of aluminium so I needed a longer stem indie to reach through the hole in the fairing. Might be worth getting the spacers first so you know what length stem indicator you need.

It's really easy to make your own but at this price it's maybe not worth the effort. You only need spacers for the fronts. The rear should go on no problem.

EDIT : Just saw Geodudes response. I'm 74.8% sure the Oxford ones for the curvy are just a pair. :p

Only pic i could find was this Thread looks about 20mm+ and tams right the oxford one do seem to be in pairs so just indy through spacer then bolt to fairing and no sandwich as i said earlier.
