90° tyre valve adaptors?

Eyup folks, just wondering how you get on with filling the tyres with air at petrol stations with the standard straight valve's, i keep meaning to check tyre pressures but then i dont wanna look like a tool trying to get the tyre inflator on to the valve. Is it best to just buy the 90* valve adaptor thingys or is it easy to inflate with the standard straight valves? and i presume the valve adaptors dont affect wheel balance? i know they wont weigh much but idve thought that any if the wheel rpm is fast enough it could be noticable?

Just use the adaptor to put air in. I got told to take them off after my MOT. They do weigh enough to affect the balance of the wheel, but I never noticed.

I have seen 90* valves for the wheels, why they don't fit them as standard I don't know, because using a garage airline with the standard wheels and disks is a nightmare. Worse with GSXR front discs :|

may have to just use them and then remove them maybe.. iv'e heard of people getting 90* walves fitted to the rims if/when they get new tyres fitted but ive only just got some on so could be a while before theyre due to come off. I was only wondering as ive not checked the tyre pressures in 6 months ish, i got the new tyres fitted before i bought the bike so i dont know what pressures the fitter's used either, maybe time to invest in a tyre pressure gague and somr 90* adaptor jobbies.

I did mine at a garage a few months ago, and whilst awkward, it wasnt difficult to be honest.

Also they can leak air, so you think you have a slow puncture - d'oh!

Or, they can crack and let the air out overnight, when you are away and have no air pump at hand - D'OH!!

:D

Ask about them next time you're getting new rubber fitted.

16 inch wheels on a fireblade make it interesting but not impossible. The shortest valve tubes work best for me as it gives more room to get the inflater on. Some inflaters have a double ended head which will work on of the two ways.
TPs are often on the chainguard or under the seat on a sticker. In in doubt a dealer will have them too.
