FI International restriction
i recently purchased a k5 SV650 with less than 2k miles from a dealer in the UK and am currently awaiting delivery to ireland. the thing is, as its my first bike, i needed to get it restricted for insurance etc which the dealer is doing. he ordered an fi international kit for it but what im wondering is is the restrictor kit likely to be a carb slider or ecu?!

Re: FI International restriction
K5 is a Pointy, so should be ECU restriction. Just make sure you get your full power one as well.

Re: FI International restriction
the fi restricton is throttle stop 5th of its full turn bungs in the air box/injectors air intake
thats what i had on my k6 so guess it will be the same i hated it and was way under 33bhp so i managed to get a second hand restricted ecu on here so much more power and better for the engin as well if you can try and get the ecu deffo go for that :) |
Re: FI International restriction
I'd go with the 33BHP ECU which just plugs in. I purchased the Fi International kit and had it fitted by a garage and I hated it!
I ended up wasting money on that and went and bought an ECU instead. Couldn't deal with the crappy throttle stop. |
Re: FI International restriction
thanks for the replies lads. been doing a bit of research the FI kit dosent seem to getting good reviews from anyone! i knew that the SV could be restricted mechanically and by ECU when i bought it, i just didnt realise there was such a difference between the two. oh well, its already done now, im just waiting to get the bike delivered! looks like ill be keeping an eye out for a restricted ECU then. ill just get the washers taken out and swap the ECU when i find one.
is it the single plug ECU im looking for then? for a 2005. |
Re: FI International restriction
