In tank fuel hose?
Just wondering if normal hose will last long, or what will happen to it?
Mine seems to have split and I need to replace it. The one that I got doesnt mention either way what it can be used for, so this really means it probably cant really be used submersed. I have ordered some off of Ebay that reckons it is just for that so the main Question is this; will normal hose last me for a week till I can replace it with the stuff I know should work fine? Cheers |
Re: In tank fuel hose
Fuel hose comes in a variety of flavours, but quite often the outside layer isn't necessarily particularly fuel resistant, it's often a "more cost effective" (cheaper) spec which is more suited to ozone resistance etc which helps prevent crazing and cracking especially under bonnets.
It might well be OK for a limited time although you'll very probably see quite significant swelling of the outer layer, and it may even become sticky and/or rub off on your fingers. If you have time, put a piece in fuel in a bottle for a day and see what it looks like, swelling usually occurs relatively quickly if it's going to. Definitely get some stuff intended for in-tank application. |
