New Chain & Sprockets required - DID kit from dkmotorcycles good enough?
Hi folks. My chain is knackered (poor maintenance by me) so needs replacing. I've searched quite a bit on this forum for ideas and advice and I've seen nothing to put me off my longstanding preference for DID (I don't think they're better than anyone else, it's just a brand I trust).
Looking around online to buy a DID kit I didn't find many options (well 1 really). www.dkmotorcycles.com offer 3 DID kits (for SV650S K5). 525VX-108 £80 (OE) 525VM2-108 £90 (Recommended upgrade) 525ZVM2-108 £130 (Extreme upgrade) Looking at the DID site and interpreting it as best I could I would have thought the 'basic' kit would have done me ok? That said I'm happy to pay an extra £10 if peeps generally think it's worth the extra. Can't imagine what the £130 kit would do for me). I would much appreciate some feedback from other SV owners about: a) Suitability of DID\these kits b) dkmotorcycles (because I've never heard of them, but I don't buy much bike stuff online) Thanks in advance, 2mths |

DK is a big business and I have never had issues with them. Its who I ordered my DID chain set through when I had the SV. Quick delivery - also ordered other parts from there in the past.
As for these kits. I had the basic one, stood fine and belive it is still what is on my old SV now (which Girth has). |

I got mine on dkmotorcycles eBay shop for about £70. Easy snap on linkage, fast delivery. I got a 14 tooth front sprocket off wemoto for £11 too. Can't say I looked into the more expensive options at all

Just bought my sprockets and gold DID chain from them too. Quick delivery and a good price although the chain was a link too long. Easy enough to sort though.

The ZVM2 is considered to be the OEM equivalent and heaviest duty (Tsubaki Gamma) , and most expensive of course. The VM2 is the most popular so I've seen (same as Tsubaki Alpha X) while the VX seems to be the budget version most seen as Ebay bargains . DID have changed part numbers so these can appear under slightly different numbers such as having GB (gold/black) suffix.
I would always go for the heaviest duty I can, especially with a rough old engine like a V twin, :) |
