oulton early sessions carnage
Did the no limits day yesterday. For some reason there were a load of acu licence holders in novice group as inters was booked solid, dont think they had balls to go in fast group? Hence massive difference in paces. I first wanted inters but then I chose novice as I had only been there once in appalling weather to learn track. In briefing acu holders warned to behave accordingly. First session red flagged, one R1 wrecked on sighting lap! By end of first proper lap five (YES 5!) bikes down at different corners=red flag. Second session, half way through session three bikes off at various points=red flag. Rest of day calmed down abit then but still a few off's. Only half of bikes out for last couple of sessions, think it was a war of attrition! I think early carnage was a combo of newbies trying to ride at acu pace and acu holders trying SHOW newbies how its done. Dont know why they weren't moved to fast cos it didn't look as full. heyho roll on cadwell (inters this time, hopefully more track time)

not all race licence holders are fast riders! Also can depend totally on the bike.

Re: oulton early sessions carnage
Think one guy on KTM RC8 race bike on slicks trying for lap record may beg to differ, lol. Didn't bother me as I am not put off by other riders and try learn off quicker guys. But some proper novices were moaning abit.

Re: oulton early sessions carnage
you cant blame the racers for some plank crashing trying to keep up with them. PLus racers have to start somewhere to, I have an acu ticket and use to ride in novice group to begin with

I have an ACU licence & I'll be the 1st to say I'm not that fast, but surely it wouldn't matter if there are fast folk in the novice group, you should ride at your pace & the person behind should overtake where appropriate. |
Re: oulton early sessions carnage
Problem I've found with nearly all the track days I've done is people going like stink in a straight line, then pulling in right in front of you and jamming the brakes on for the corners and taking them really slow, only to bomb off again on a straight. Over the course of a lap I reckon I'd be quicker overall if they didn't screw up my entry into the corners by braking sooner than I would. Really gets my goat!

I ride a CB500 - not a quick bike but i have been held up (even in inters) by people on big bikes canning it down the straights where i cant keep up only to achor it up for the corners (which on a track day i "apparently" arent allowed to over take) Means either i have to waste a lap or two going slow to get some space on the track only to catch up with them a lap later I end up stuck behind them not really able to do anything until i see an chance to take them on a corner without them freaking out about it :smt072 |
