120/70 front tyre?
Hi all. Im new here. Will introduce myself soon.
Im looking at buying some Conti Road Attacks soon, as I can get both front and rear for £160 NOT FITTED, and these are what im currently using and they are pretty good. I cant compare as they are the only tyres I used but Ive had no problems with them, apart from a nail in the rear tyre which I should be plugging ASAP. I would like to know from someone with more experience/knowledge if whether fitting a 120/70/17 on the front is worth it for the more accurate speedo? And if there are any ill effects apart from the slightly underestimating milometer/odo. Thanks. :-D |
Re: New tyres
i've currently got them tyres and need some new ones but can't get them that cheap, where do you get them from?
sorry this is'nt helping your question lol |
Re: New tyres
Also look at these
http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo.a...r3url=Michelin I have some and they appear hard wearing on the SV, grippy wet or dry and have inspired much more confidance in me than the old dunlops. |
Re: 120/70 front tyre?
120/70 gives no ill effects that i can report, as you say more accurate speedo. should give more grip at greater lean. Main reson i run 70's is simply there are an abundance of part worn grippy scrubs for a fraction of the price of new :).

Re: 120/70 front tyre?
I have 120/70 will not affect the speedo at all as the wheel is still the same size and the sensor does not move. The only difference is a higher profile so will lean into corners quicker and further.

Re: 120/70 front tyre?
Im pretty sure that fitting a 120/70 front tyre should have some effect on the speedo. You are right in saying that the rim is no bigger but the tyres outside diametre will be slightly larger. IIRC.
@dazzaboy Errrr... Well.. You see, I found them on some website the other day that was selling them at roughly £80 per tyre. Thing is, I cant remember what site it was. #-oI will let you know as soon as I find it again. |
Re: 120/70 front tyre?
Right found the website. Here it is: TyreTecTrading
And I must have read the price wrong. The front is £80 and the rear is £98 with £7.50 postage. I'll have to keep looking, need to keep the cost around £200 for tyres and fitting. |
