So...I gave up biking for a new guitar....Sort of!

Well- that wasn't really the reason- there was sound judgement for what I did (mainly financial).
But, out of the insurance money I now have...... An Ibanez Prestige RG1527. Seven string beast! I'm so in love with this guitar. Only had it for 2 days but the more I pick it up, the more I love it!! The fretboard is like silk to play on. String action has to come down a bit though.. Getting used to the big neck and fretboard too- it's satisfyingly chunky, like holding my 5-string bass! A fair exchange I say!! Got a good price on it too, as it's the older model (2008-2009) and there's a newer version out. It's gorgeous! New pickups will be ordered though- the stock ones just don't cut it. Will probably go up from 9 to 10 guage strings too (more messing about with bridge springs...!). Expect some deep riffage to follow...! :D |

Nice purchase Badger....
What pick ups you thinking of going for "the Donal" ? |
Re: So...I gave up biking for a new guitar....Sort of!
Nice Badger- that looks like a beast!!
Whyte- I'm getting the Liquidfire/Crunchlab set. Really looking forward to that- I forgot how lacking the V7/V8 are- it's years since I swapped them out of my RG550. Strings will probably go up to 10 guage too- I think that extra bit of tension will help the low b (plus all my other electrics are strung with either 10 or 11 guage- don't want to be getting soft now!) |
Re: So...I gave up biking for a new guitar....Sort of!
I`ve googled them (never heard of them) they should sound killer in it, yeah the v7 / 8 can be a bit weak. Have you thought about the Dimarzio evo 7 ? I had one fitted in an rg550 yrs ago and it sounded luvvverrlllyyy, but that was down tuned to drop c - it coped with it ok as well -.
