iStalker

I've always found the regularity that "Every Breath You Take" (aka The Stalker Song) gets played as the first song at weddings.

Well it seems that Steve is a big fan of The Police, or maybe its just Sting, who knows maybe its just that song.

It seems that any iDevice with 3G capabilities and running iOS 4, has been caching where its owners have been, when they were there, then, when syncing with iTunes, sending that info back to Big Jobs.

Just another reason not to buy Apple for me, not that I really needed one or course.

So if there is no way to wipe the data, if someone bought a second-hand iphone could they see everywhere that phone has been?

Android's version is turn-offable.

Apple's isnt, they give the option to turn off logging of the GPS system, but silently log the Cell-Tower and Wifi Access point info.

Not seen any reports that Google are doing it unannounced.

Omg this is so scary, I was gonna put details on here of my Easter ride plans best not now Incase someone stalks me. I'm going to bin my sat nav to Incase it gets stolen as that will likely have my home address programed on.

Seriously though I can't see how this is a problem, mobile companies keep a track of which cell tower you called from, your bank account tracks where you spend money and half the world seem pretty keen about putting every detail of their life on facebook

The amazing thing is that this is a common view, that it is so readily accepted.

Mind you, this is coming from someone who used to routinely meet up with some friends and we would randomly swap Tesco Clubcards and Oyster Cards.

Just claiming that its "for statistical analysis" seems to be all it takes to have people roll over and say "oh go on then".

Yes I do use Android and Google, and as such have had to make certain compromises, but these are considered rather than just accepted.
