Stiff Clutch issue
Hi guys, Just bought my SV650s the otherday, it is a brand new bike and i am having issues with the clutch lever. I rode a 125 for 2 years until i manned up did my DAS and got myself a lovely bike.
The issue im having is im finding the clutch a bit to stiff for my liking and it is giving me issues pulling it back in if i have been riding for more than an hour casue of the constant stop start nature of london. So here is my question will this ease up the more i use the clutch and the bike or is it something im gonna need to look at by ways of either replacing a part or getting some adjustable levers for myself any help is greatly recived, Big_dave |
Re: Stiff Clutch issue
Try lubing the clutch cable with a cable luber and some 4 in 1 oil.

Re: Stiff Clutch issue
Yes,I noticed this .you have to use the end of the lever.
Anyone know of a hydraulic conversion? |

Re: Stiff Clutch issue
Also adjust the lever angle so it suits your riding position. They can be twisted round on the bars so they are higher or lower.

Re: Stiff Clutch issue
I've done an hydraulic clutch conversion using TL1000R parts and some minor mods. I'm afraid it is only slightly easier than the standard cable operation. I believe the problem is with the clutch design itself rather than the actuating mechanism.

Re: Stiff Clutch issue
Could be from where youre used to a 125, they have pretty light clutches and are dead easy to use. I was suprised when i jumped up to my SV, but soon got used to it no probs. Its more than likely just the character of the bike.
Youre not gonna get a nice light clutch like the 125 on a big bike, you will get used to it though, but constant stop start in traffic is awful for your left wrist. But keep your cable lubed and moving freely. Althought where its a brand new bike, the cable should be fine, watch for streching. Might just be a running in thing. Dont know, never bought a brand spanking new bike. |
Re: Stiff Clutch issue
ye thanks im hoping it is just a case of running them in, Im not greating at technical stuff so ill probs end up going to see a mate of mine to help lube up the cable if it dont improve much
