Car Insurance Companies - Need advice

Morning All.

Need some help with Insurance Companies. Passed my car test back in January, and turned 25 at the end of April. Coming to Insure my car but i am getting extortionate prices back, in the region of 1500+. Its an old '98 mondeo, 2ltr. I know its not a small car, but i do a lot of mountain biking so need to cart the bikes around, and also a lot of motorbike parts (engines frames etc) to painters.
The main issue i have found is that they dont take into account the bike license, which i've had since i was 17. I have 3 points on my bike license, does this apply to the car license? as when i admit the 3 points it adds around £300 onto the policy.
Are there any companies around which take into account the years ive already been on the road? I tried carol nash's 6 wheel policy, however they didnt want to insure the car. to cheap apparently.
Any one have any suggestions?

Thank you all.

Rik

You only have one driving licence, so you have 3 points on it... not 3 points on your 'bike' licence.

So yes you need to declare it.

but if they dont ask about the bike license, it looks like i got 3 points when i wasnt even driving! on the bike insurance the 3 points dont make any difference at all.

They're only concerned with how long you've been driving a car. You still need to declare the points on your licence.

Have you tried calling a few up and explaining it to them directly? I doubt you'll get anywhere but it's worth a try!

You're still classed as a new driver, even though you're over 25, as you haven't held your car license for that long. You'll pay extra premiums for the first 2 years and higher excesses too with most people.

Unfortunately, nowt can be done. Shop around is all you can do I'm afraid. Try looking at TPFT and increasing your excesses as they will reduce your premiums as the likelihood of you actually making a claim is much lower. Apart from that, you're stuck!

I've been riding seven years, and passed my car test last July. Even with Peg on the insurance with mega no claims our car insurance was extortionate for this year.
Hes 40, I'm 34. We drive a 2.5l V6 Freelander.
Although not as high as the quotes you are getting, to pay 900 quid, when last year it was half that with me as an L plater, is rediculous!

They aren't bothered how long you've had a bike license, but points are points. I have none :)
