Wiring in a CycloneV2 alarm into a K3
Hi All
First post here - I usually get all my techie help from BCF but thought I'd try my luck here as it's a bit more bike specific :) I bought a Cyclone V2 alarm, immobiliser and remote start a few weeks ago. I got round to fitting it a few days ago and am having loads of problems. Firstly, when I hook up the yellow cables to the positive feeds on the indicators it seems to bridge both indicators which means that when I actually push the indicator switch (left or right) both indicators light up like hazard lights. No good. Secondly, the bike won't start when using the remote start. I contacted the seller and he told me I'd need to bridge the clutch switch (eek - BCF members have told me this could potentially have a negative effect on ECU). And, I also need to wire in a 100ohm resistor into the ignition switch - I was told this needed to span the orange/yellow and black/white cables. Problem is, I don't have a black/white cable in the ignition switch so I reckon I've been given directions for a K2. I got back in touch with the seller and he asked me to call him with a voltmeter handy. This isn't ideal for me as I work 8-6 and am not really in the position to be able to do some car-park mechanics at work! So..... I was hoping that someone here had successfully fitted one of these alarms into their K3 (and got the remote start working!!) TIA |
Re: Wiring in a CycloneV2 alarm into a K3
Just food for thought but if you wire up remote start with the clutch switch engaged, if for whatever reason you leave the bike in gear when you park it up it's going to kick it off the stand (very possibly!) when you push the magic button on the remote. I'd have thought a much better use would be to wire it to the headlight or horn for kicks.

I would not bother with the remote start on those things , I had one of these alarms and they are a bit of a faff to install . Whereabouts in North Wales are you ?

I reckon it'd make sense to wire the indicator wires to the hazard light circuit if that's possible.

Also, with respect to the remote start option - check your insurance policy. Some policies will not cover you / pay out in the case theft if you have a remote starter wired in.

I had one of these alarms on my old SV, and chucked it in the bin after a month. They are garbage. I had NOTHING but problems with mine.

I'm with Dan. Don't bother, pieces of crap.
For indis you either need to go to hazards (but not 100% how that switch works exactly, could leave you with same problem). Or use a couple of diodes to split the system up. For remote start I will get back to you when I can find wiring diagram. |

Well, for £26 I can't really complain. Would have been nicer if the instructions provided with the bike had been more bike specific - correct colour codes and extra components included (I would quite happily have paid an extra tenner!) Now I've got a 60 mile round trip to make to Maplins for 75p worth of diodes and resistors!
