Help with fitting givi rack

I bought a givi monorack kit to fit a box to my '06 sv650 and now i can't seem to fit it to the bike. The brackets which should fit over the grab rails can't fit properly and line up with the attachment point - most of the bracket isn't in contact with the rail. I can just about force it on so it may work but it doesn't look right.

Has anyone else had this problem? I don't want to load the box up when it looks this weak.

Thanks

Mine fitted crap when I had one fitted. Scratched the grab rail to death and the bolts kept working loose and one actually fell off, luckily only 1 mile from home after I'd just ridden 200 miles back from Essex. If you get it to fit I would recommend using some loctite or similar on the bolts.

+1, and it might be worth getting a spare grabrail. I got my topbox and rack from another org member (many thanks to The Furry Ginger One =D> ) and he threw in a spare grabrail with it. I never thought I'd use it because it was black and my bike is blue but I'm glad I did!

Re: Help with fitting givi rack

Bought my rack second hand, and it came with two pieces of rubber that fit between the brackets and the grab rail. I assumed they were part of the original kit.
I tape them down because they slide about but other than that I haven't had any issues beyond working out how on earth it fitted with no instructions. (Givi's online pictures were for the full installation with panniers.)

The weight of the box seems to be supported by the footpeg fixings, and the bolts under the grab rail - not the over-rail brackets.

I had one of the under-rail bolts come loose on my first outing, but no problems since. I always carry the right spanner and hex key to tighten the bolts up just incase.

Thanks for all the advice. The rack is now attached and the spanner and hex stashed under my seat in case of problems!
