am i being scammed

i been looking for a cat/kitten for a few days now.. gumtree mostly.. so i stumble on this ad http://www.gumtree.com/p/pets/get-pa...t-cat/81474495

so i get a cat, and i help someone else out and he pays for the bills food etc etc.. i'm not that bothered about being paid to look after the cat tbh but if the cat is poorly i'd want the vet bills paid....

so email asking whats wrong with the cat and get reply as follows:

She has got a few things wrong with her, which other cats can catch, and i have alot of other cats.

i reply something along the lines of : be a bit more specific please and the response:

She has 5 different problems, 2 of which can be passed on to other cats.
She is not in noticeable pain so i dont want her to be put down.
Feel free to ask any questions but only if you are truly interested.

ok. send me a picture please, i may be interested and would like to know what the problems actually are.. response:

Just to let you know the things the vets give her will prolong her life but that isnt going to guarentee she lives long.
And she will still be my cat, i will be paying you to look after her and fuss her, but i would want regular updates, and maybe to see her every now and again.
The things she has are to hard to spell but i can explain them if you are still interested.
I would obviously also give you a litter tray for her, and a bed.
Please reply asap.

no picture... but now my over suspicious mind has just gone into over drive.

am i being silly? do you think he is being genuine? (or maybe as i normally do, making other peoples problems mine and i should just walk away?? ) the last dog i tried to help left his teeth marks and a massive bruise on my arm

As above. If you want a cat go to a rescue centre.

Don't touch with someone else's bargepole...

You could always pass their details on to the RSPCA who I am sure would be happy to call in and check on the health of all of this persons cats.

I second Kenzie , go to local Cat Shelter or RSPCA or Cat`s Protection league and get a Moggie from there

i work when they open.. home when they closed- but u right, i should do that. just so many unwanted cats on gumtree i thought i'd get one before it ended up in rescue

I agree with the above posts. If it's too good to be true then it probably is. As was mentioned plenty of rescue centres about?

Don't even get involved!!! Just go to Cats Protection or something and get a kitten! Can normally get a kitten for free!!

They make you sign a piece of paper promising that you wont eat them I am afraid.

No, not even dipped in chocolate.
