newbie gettin into racing

Hi guys, new to the forum but on various others. Been riding 7 years on the road and have decided now ive finished uni its a good time to try racing.

had considered 400's but have decided with mini twins. Ive been lookin for a bike for some time and would prefer to buy an already race prepared bike but there seems to be very few for sale. Ive looked on the usual websites of eBay and other forums.

Anyone selling a bike here? or could give me a rough idea on prices for an injected mini twin with ok spec

i kno its an SV site but im after any minitwin tbh but a SV would be perfect.

Thanks

Its a case of how deeps your wallet!

You can pic a dog up needing rebuilt for about £1,500
- Basic injection about 2,200
- Fully sorted 2,500 upwards

You'll not pic many up mid-season as everyones racing atm.
If your wanting to race this season you can do it for cheap and build it up off a road bike using the road fairings. Like so...

ah ok thanks for the reply, not lookin to race this season just get some practice in.

was lookin around the 2000 mark so looks like i can get something basic thankfully.

to meet the 72hp limit, would an end can + air filter with correct mapping be sufficient.

Are you allowed USD forks in the minitwinners. I want to get into racing in the future. Would love to race my SV. Is there a spec/ regulation list anywhere?

All the rules are at http://www.minitwins.co.uk/rules/rules2010a.html

And no, your forks need to be standard. Even the fork caps. 8-[

Having a read now. Is there a race series where you can race more modified bikes?

Re: newbie gettin into racing

Yes the Ultra-lights or Lightweight modified (Irish Road rules) but you need to spend at least 5k on the motor and suzzies to be keeping up.

Have a look here at a bike spec for it (easily £12k bike)

Excuse me while I just gasm everywhere....

Thats the level of work I want to do! Not for some years though and I guess it will have to be done on a new(er) bike. I can only assume a 5 year old road bike would not do as well as a new bike in that class. I guess my current bike will just be my own personal toy.
