Strange Noise

Hi All,

At the weekend I changed my plugs and whilst I was at it fitted a K&N Air Filter and a stainless rad grille. The bike runs dine but I have noticed a bit of a howl/wine 15mph upwards. First guess is wind noise passing through the grille bit was wondering whether anybody else had any suggestions ?

I'm hoping it isn't the gearbox bearings. The noise is still still when coasting without using throttle or putting the box under any strain

could be the new filter, have you performed a snorkelectomy?

steveinhull 13-06-11 06:32 PM

No I haven't done that, from what I've read there's not an awful lot to gain unless you space the tank up.

Gut instinct is rad grille as it disappears under approx 10 mph

is it in a curvy or pointly?
There is a chance it may be the new filter as it will be pulling a lot more air than the old one.

Hi, sorry it's a 2001 curvy with the half fairing

Easy fix, take rad grill off and ride to see if it still howls.

steveinhull 13-06-11 06:45 PM

Yer was thinking of doing that but was hoping somebody else may have experienced it to save me the aggro !! Lol

Re: Strange Noise

5 minute job to see if thats what it is and eliminate grill from the problem. Probably be the k&n induction sound but its worth checking.
