Another Sky TV Moan
I got a letter this morning from Sky telling me I could have a new SKY+ HD box to replace my old HD box, because I'm a good customer blah blah and they want to be nice to me. This sounded too good to be true, so off I went to Sky.com/myhdbox and read the terms and conditions... Quote:

Re: Another Sky TV Moan
Everyone's moaning today. I have Sky, I hate Sky, I don't know why I have Sky, I hate Rupert Murdoch,I hate his newspapers and I hate him because he's a ****. They send these offers out under his direct instruction because he wants to drive us mad, and take over the world. He's Australian, I don't trust any of em.
Too much caffeine today. Sorry. |
Re: Another Sky TV Moan
I hate sky... but even more so I hate BT... I pay BT £13 a month to 'rent their line'... I've been in this house 5 years, so that's £720 I've paid them because they have a monopoly on installing a thin piece of cable that cost 20p.

Re: Another Sky TV Moan
I quite like having Sky - I've taken the afternoon off and Sky are showing the cricket until the rain comes back. But I don't have Sky+ or SkyHD, or Sky3D or SkyVD or whatever else they are trying to sell these days.
But I actually have to put up with Sky in person as my job involves looking after all of their team of broadcasters when they come to Lord's - so if you thought Bumble was mental on the telly, try spending 5 days with him in a small spaceship at Lord's! |
Re: Another Sky TV Moan
I hate sky. I was a 'sky pioneer' back in the 80's with one of the first dishes, and was told it would be free for life. I thought it was crap and gave it up when I moved house a few years later.
I know people who pay £70+ for all the ****e channels they pedal, and even they complain there is nothing to watch. |
Re: Another Sky TV Moan
This year I finally caved in... and detuned my tv. This follows quitting Sky a few years ago when I called their bluff after they tried convinving me I had to pay for repairs. I now save approx. £150 a year on a tv licence, the £480 on sky, and if I really want to watch something, I just watch it on iPlayer following it's live broadcast. Win. Viva la revolucion.

Re: Another Sky TV Moan
For the £30 odd quid a month I pay for Sky and Broadband I think it's quite good value. I don't watch much TV but most of the stuff I do watch isn't available on the free channels.
Their customer service is consistently excellent. I had a problem with my broadband and called them on the 0845 number, I said it's costing me a lot calling from a mobile so they called me back straight away. They then had a new router at my house within a couple of days, even though the problem was more than likely down to BT. Spend a few months on Virgin and you'll soon realise it could be a lot worse. |

Virgin ftw.. dial 150 or 151 (can't remember) free customer services, usually connected straight away, had problems with the V-box one day, called customer services at lunchtime, they did some tests over the phone, enginner arrived 4:30pm sameday and replaced it without so much as asking any questions... Problems with router one time, new one arrived 2 days later for free... Pricing for house phone/broadband/telly is good, and their on demand service is great for me  - if only you didn't have to be on the top telly package (£40-£50 a month before Broadband & phone) to qualify for the V+ HD box (HD and capable of recording telly)... hey ho - my old man donated a HDD recorder he doesn't need anymore :) |
Re: Another Sky TV Moan
I pay £54 a month for mine, if it wasnt for the fact you need a bt phone line I'd have my broadband off them as well.
As Lenny says, as I company they aren't bad at all IMO, much better than some I could mention. |
