Repaired and tweaked my bike
and she's a totally different vtwin!
background: i came off heavy enough on a spin at the end of march; ended up in a cast and was convinced teh bike was a right off (went into a high kerb hard enough) cast came off last week and turned out i got away lucky as hell with the bike - just one stanchion bend, and a wheel bearing gone to nothing! (along with front fairing and some little pieces but they are minor) anyway, prior to my 'off', the bike would just die a death under heavy revving; adjusted the TPS using the pic guide from here adjusted the idle speed put the rebound on the front forks to the default and she loves it. cant get over just how much better the bike drives. left to do is fix the rear brake lever, sort out my speedo sensor (i drove 10km on the front wheel before we checked the bearing :/ and the sensor was on incorrectly as well so prolly shagged it completely) defo recommend the TPS and idle speed adjustments. |

spoke too soon :(
buckets of rain today and I didnt have my fender extender on; pretty sure the front cylinder got soaked - had big issues this evening |
Re: Repaired and tweaked my bike
Grease that plug cap... but dry it out first or you will be sealing the water in.

Re: Repaired and tweaked my bike
Mine has a triple bill of water protection*, and doing my bikesafe in torrential rain proved the theory the bike was faultless, more reliable than my Arlen Ness waterproof boots, poured water out of both of them when I got home.
* Fenda extenda Greased cap That little rubber flap under the radiator that im told S models don't have, mine came with one. How much difference does the TPS mod make? mine appears to ride just fine. |
Re: Repaired and tweaked my bike
hey,
i have the extender and the little flap over the front spark. i think the TPS coupled with the idle adjustment helped. idk if the TPS on it's own would have helped with the stalling issue i was having. but with the tps set as per online/book recommendation and the idle speed upped, the bike runs and feels smoother. the tps should let the FI kick in around 1500rpm so you wont be jerky at low speed |
