Couldn't find one of these using the search tool so though i'd start one...

So come on, what kind of books do you like to read, favourite authors etc?

Just finished 'Fooled by Randomness' and 'The Black Swan' by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, thoroughly enjoyable if not a bit hard going at times.

Who knows perhaps orgers could start posting books to those who would like to read them, swap shop stylie.

I like books about science and psychology, why people do the things they do and the like. Oh and anything funny.

I'm into my war books at the mo, 'Nam mostly. Chickenhawk and The Cage are good, Tiger Force was good. Fantasywise, Once by James Herbert is worth a look. Tom Clancy books are ok for a short read, and defo look at Scarecrow by Matthew Reilly.

Discworld

Finished 'Unseen Academicals' and 'I Shall Wear Midnight' which were ok. Looking forward to the next one though as it's about the City Watch and I love reading about Vimes. Him and the Death books are what got me into the series

Favourite Authors:- Dean R Koontz, Terry Pratchett, Anne Rice, Douglas Adams, Stephen King, Clive Barker and James Barclay.
Don't tend to get alot of time to read nowadays. :-(

If you like that one, try "Once a Warrior King" by David Donovan. It'll give you a totally different perspective of the particular conflict.

Currently reading "Bring on the Empty Horses" by David Niven, but generally like anything by Wilbur Smith, Chris Ryan or Andy McNab

If you like 'The Black Swan' by Taleb, you may like 'The Fabric of Reality' by Deutch. It's from a similar POV but far more fundamental. Awesome read, the sequel 'The beginning of infinity' is however seriously laborious unless you're really keen. All that stuff however has it's route with Karl Popper, if you like it, there is a lot more out there! I'm a big fan. But it's not popular and it's not the only perspective. If you want a challenge along similar lines to Taleb, try 'Information Theory and Evolution' by John Avery. Awesome!
