Monkey Bikes - wtf they look brilliant??!!

I'm fed up with explaining I that I'm a returning biker and know jack **** but wtf Monkey bikes, never seen them before, they look brilliant!!!

I want one, someone tell me to stop, pause be rational. They seem to go on e bay for less than £500.

I have a 2 mile walk/run cycle to the station everyday and I want to do it on a Monkey Bike. Even without that practical use I just want one for fun, strip it down do it up, pop down to the shops on it blah blah.

Come on park the machismo for a bit, these things are fun right?? Or am I being a tw&t:confused:

So, what ones have the best availability for spares or the best reputation or will I live to regret asking this?

Used to use a pair when I worked in racing in the 70s for nipping about on. Hardly practical to use the transporter to nip down to the chippy. Great fun and would go anywhere

If I remember rightly on provided the power for a mechanics motorised snap on roll cab project

Have tuned a few in my school days.

The only original is the Honda Monkey and you will be hard pressed to find one for less than £1000 as they are classics.

The engine is very similar if not the same as from a Honda Cub 90 and can be tuned for a good laugh.

Get one!! You won't regret it

There used to be a bloke who used to nip around on one round here.

Funny thing is, he was always wearing a white doctors coat and a pair of white wellies!

They've been around for centuries, my little lad screams MONKEY BIKE, and points n laughs whenever he sees one.

Get one, they're great fun! One of the highlights of the annual Wirral Egg Run for me is seeing a convoy of monkey bikes with the riders dressed in orangutan costumes lol!

There's also a group of them that turn up at the weekly bike meets on a Wednesday night near me.

Cracking little bikes...... I might just get one too now you mention it!

My brother in laws father recently gave up biking at a grand old age, and until recently, he had a monkey bike. Couldn't swing a leg over and manage a full sized bike anymore, and he absolutely loved it.

To think some Japanese engineer at Honda designed it in all seriousness, thinking he was creating the solution to the worlds transport issues.
