A very angry Ste.
 

Earlier today a next door neighbours son comes running into my house, he tells me that his mum wants to talk to me. His mum is at the front door.
She tells me that she has just had a fright, apparently a east europe man and woman pulls up to her house in a champagne coloured car. Outside her house on the driveway is her son and my daughter, who are both 4 yrs old. The man gets out of the car and quickly proceeds to the children. My neighbour just happened to go to the front door to give them some treats when she sees the man. The man stops and then looks at her and mumbles "is this number #", she replies " yes it is, as you can clearly see. What do you want?", pointing to the number on the wall ( this is not the kind of woman you want to mess with! ). The man then mumbles something that she cannot quite here and goes back to the car.
Now I live in a crescent which is quite large and has an oval shaped road with houses in the middle. The car has stopped at the one end of the crescent and noone gets out. My neighbour stares at the car and waits, when it finally goes she memorises the number plate and notices that the woman is driving.
By this point my daughter has already come over to my house and soon after is when her son comes into my house telling me that his mum wants to talk to me.
I advised her to get in touch with the police and give them as much information as possible, in the mean time both children will stay in doors.
Half hour later my neighbour is back round telling me that she has phoned the police. The police said that they will have more patrols around the area and that they will check the car reg out.
I have wracked my brain to think of some reason for the man's behaviour and cannot come up with anything good or reasonable, so therefore,
it is obvious that this couple are upto something bad, but the chances that the police will stop them is pretty damn small.
I am in the mind, that if I find them I will not just put the frightners on them, but will torture them to find out the truth.
What has got me really friggin angry, is that the only day where I have not kept a careful eye on my daughter, due to putting the friggin washing out in the back garden and this happens. More angry with myself that with anyone else. I know it makes no sense to be so angry with myself but I cannot help it.
Better stop writing now, starting to wind myself up even more, going for a cigar!

Doesn't sound good and the sort of thing that preys on my mind all the time, despite the odds being against it happen to your kids.

Very true.
Not told the wife as yet, due to her being in work. God knows how she will react when I do tell her.
Not something i'm looking forward to.

Don't beat yourself up too much, its very hard to keep a vigil on your kids 24/7

It causes me a few nightmares from time to time

+1 to what Mav said Ste, dont be harsh on yourself mate, get the reg off the neighbour and pay dvla £4 or so for the details :)

Weird. Although at 4 years old I wouldn't let my kids play out the front of the house, better off out the back.

My lad only started playing out front when he was seven, and could only play between certain points, where i had a clear view.

slark, that is a very very un-nerving experience for you, really aren't surprised you are an angry wasp!

Just glad nothing bad happened.
I'm uber protective of my 4th boy and agree with pretty much every feeling/opinion shared in this thread.

That sounds like it could have been the thing of nightmares. Definitely don't beat yourself up though, you can't be on them 24/7 and you'll always worry even when they get older.

Definitely echo your sentiments on if you could track them down, it's a natural instinct to think the worst and although you don't really know wtf they were doing it's hard to get the worst out of your mind.

I'm curious to know if the police flooded the area with patrols and have really tried to track them down. I'm wondering if they sent someone round to get a description from your neighbour?
