So that is why I have been feeling sh1t
Just found out I have stage 2 diabetes combined with stupidly high cholesterol. so my daily tablet regime has now gone from 3/day to 6. FFS I will be rattling more than an SV cam chain.
Anyone else out there with this. I am a bit gobsmacked and have to attend a clinic tomorrow where they should be advising on lifestyle etc. A quick look on the net does not say much change to my diet etc. But maybe some weightless and exercise. TBH I am relieved that after so long of saying I am tired and thirsty that it can be attributed to something other than being a lazy slob. I just wish my doctor was a little more proactive. My last blood test was about 10 years ago. They check my blood pressure every 6 months but never my bloods |

Recent research shows that it may be due to a build-up of Pancreatic Fat, stopping it from working properly. Might be worth having a chat at the clinic as they have found that in some newly diagnosed cases they can "reboot" the pancreas with a 2 month low-calorie diet to ditch that fat. Why do I know this, well I am a Type 2er also , but probably been for too long for that treatment to work. |

Humour me, and answer my stupid question.....how on earth can you get round that to drink all that turbo cider? |

You decide whats important in your life, make the choices and live with any consequences. There is a school of thought that if you ate the right things in the right amount, got the right amount of excercise and the right amount of sleep you would live until 150. Thing is, you would be so busy keeping yourself alive you wouldnt have a life. Oh and Rictus is Type 1 (injections). |
Re: So that is why I have been feeling sh1t
Thats exactly how to live life SK. I suppose you deal with how ill you feel later.
On the other point you brought up about being a lazy slob with type 2. My uncle is the very typical 'lazy slob'. Sits all day clicking his fingers for my aunt to feed him, heart attack then diagnosed with type 2. Never changed his eating habits, still requires a mister Creosote portion for everything, how the hell he is still living is anyones guess. Some carry on regardless, some tweak habits to accomodate a problem, so they don't miss out on everything they enjoy. Aye, figured out about Rictus after I posted ;) |

Not quite the same Tim but I had to get my colestral below 4 and loose 4 stone.I was a smoker and drinker I have not given up smoking despite trying HARD on various occasions[Every time I started to gain weight again and could not shift it] but my drinking is now limited to special occasions and even then changing from copious beer intake to a few beers then turning to whisky.Diet wise I changed nothing apart from sweetener instead of sugar but just had smaller portions so although it may seem hard it is do-able
Being a lazy slob is a developed art form that comes with maturity:Dand I am a 5 a day man[pills]--------Good luck |
Re: So that is why I have been feeling sh1t
Lazy slob
(not to be confused with a lazy lob btw) |
Re: So that is why I have been feeling sh1t
Diet, I do not currently know what to change. I think I have a low fat diet as I sit here munching on a chicken salad on wholemeal. No egg or mayo etc. I do not add salt to food or sugar to anything. When given a choice I go for "diet" rather than full fat drinks. I only drink skimmed milk.
The paradox was one of the reasons for seeing the doctor was unexplained weight loss, yet part of the advice is to loose weight. On his charts I am officially overweight. So I think my first issue is going to be exercise. I walk a couple of mile a day with the dog. I suppose I need to let the dog run |
