Thinking of buying a SV650

The sport version, if i do go ahead and buy one, what do i need to look out for when buying a used model?

Personally when buying any bike check everything matches up on paper. Frame/engine numbers etc. service history. Address on paper work, address your at, name of person selling is that the one on the paper etc etc.

Might be a bit over the top but i like to make sure everything adds up as it should!

dont know if they have changed it since the 2003 and 2005. But one used in the rain will shown more rust just below the york. not sure what its called. if you look under the nose its that bit there where the forks go into. both my k3 and k5 had rust in that spot, despite the k5 being in mint condition, this is only area which showed its age.

also sv650's are often people first big bikes, so they tend often to have had a drop or two, or in my case alot. paint touch up is used to cover any scratches, and any damaged parts are replaced with none OEM parts. so look for these signs as no one will tell you they are there.

other than that just general things you would look for when buying a bike, chain, spockets, wear on the front forks etc, etc.

oh and watch out for hairy people, they might steal your cake and eat it for dinner

Cheers guys.

I come off my restriction next month, was hoping to get an R6 or CBR but the insurance is about £1000, SV650 is only £250, so a no brainer really. Only problem is my dad already has one, and no one wants the same bike as their dad, so just got to make sure it's any colour but blue!

Personally I hear yellow is the colour to have

Haha, i have found a really nice orange one, but it's about 120 miles away, which I'd be happy to travel, but i normally take my uncle with me to look over the bike as he actually has some mechanical knowledge.

Vergey, Noddy, you're both wrong. Blue is the only way to go!

Although orange might work - somebody on here has a sort of metallic burnt orangey bronze that looks the dogs danglies

I can't have blue though, my dad has blue, he's 27 years older than me, it's bad enough getting the same bike!

Here's the listing for this orange one. I really do like it.
