Reg numberplate issues?
Hi,
Doing checks on 2 bikes both triple r's 1 comes up as an R and 1 comes up as a just saying triple, I spoke to triumph and they said it's an R, what do you think, they both have all the usual r bits. |
Re: Reg numberplate issues?
What comes up on the reports depends what's on the V5, which is not always complete info.
E.g. Of my 2 SV's, one V5 said Suzuki SV650SX and the other one just said Suzuki. If it looks like an R, and Triumph say it's an R, then it will be. I wouldn't worry about it. |

. . . but knock the seller down a few quid while you're at it?

Re: Reg numberplate issues?
All down to VIN - different models have different VIN designations. If it's a proper R then it'll have an R VIN, if it's not then it won't... simple as that. The distinguishing feature in the VIN usually comes a little way before the final 6 or 7 digits, so about half way through the 17 digit sequence.
At our Kawasaki dealership we have noticed that ABS model ER6s, Versys and Z1000SX have different VIN designations to non-ABS bikes, and the Z750R VINs have different designation letters in them to the normal Z750. Obviously you've got to be working with them every day and inputting stock onto the computer system to notice changes like these, but if I recall correctly Triumph work in the same way as Kawasaki on things like this. |
