Help wanted for 10 and 24 Aug

Hi there, wondering if anyone would be up for volunteering their services as 'Launch Crew' for The Bike Experience on either 10 or 24 Aug? We work our of Castle Combe, arrive by 9am and you are finished by 2.30pm. Some of the forum members have come to help already, but we are always looking for more volunteers.

I will also be up at The Tavern for Bike Night tomorrow. Will be taking the SV650 up which has been adapted and hope that riders will come and have a go to see what it's like to ride, get launched and caught.

Cheers
Talan

You are the paralysed riders Launch Crew for the day. You help them to get on the bike whilst the bike is held on the paddock stand, to get secured on the bike, then you work to launch them with the other person in your pairing. Take the rider off the paddock stand, hold onto the back of the bike and then allow them to ride off out of your hands. Then you catch them when they come back, and put them back up on the paddock stand, then help the rider get off the bike and back into their wheelchair.

It is about helping motorcyclists, that have been involved in accidents (become paralysed or have lower limb disability) and getting them back in the saddle and riding again. It is pretty amazing to come and be part of such an experience, as those that have already been can vouch for.

Cheers
Talan

realised my test is on the 10th, not today D: FML :P

I would be free for the 2nd date, but i don't think i'll be up for it. Im quite a small person (5ft5 and small guns) so i probably not be of much help for the full on stuff. If there were any other stuff you needed doing though i might be of service.

I would really like to visit and help but I'm afraid it's just too far away. It's 240 miles :(

Are they always on Wednesdays, or do you sometimes do other days?

Hi Talan,

I'm around on 10th. Apologies I couldn't stick around last time afterwards, had to get car back to girlfriend!

Can bring bike now it's not in pieces. Happy to help. 8.30am start again?

I've been lucky enough to be able to help out a few times now. The schedule is here

Generally it's every other Wednesday when Castle Combe holds it's regular bike trackdays but you'll see there are a few exceptions. Talans riders prep and practice in the morning and then go out on track during the trackday lunch hour.

8.30 start is usually early enough. If anyone is hesitating, don't. Just volunteer, it's bloody good fun!

Cant help next week, got the kids with me, but the 24th might be do-able. Its my birthday that day so I'll need to check that the Mrs hasn't got anything arranged for the morning.
