sv650 Parking trouble

Hi guys,

Sorry for a noob question just got my sv650s and having a great time on it so far, I'm having issues trying to lug her into parking spaces mostly at work! The road i park on has a camber so in effect your parking up hill but you have to ride past the area and lug the bike backwards up one side of the camber and get ready to go down a slight gradient when you reach the top, for me being just a little chap its a bit of a struggle trying to pull her backwards while being ready on the front brake to stop her running off towards the curb. I'm sure theres an easier way of parking but I'm a little scared of experimenting in case I drop her! Unfortunately when i sit on the bike also my feet are not flat on the ground but I am on the fronts but i cant get the grip and push from my legs while sitting. Any help or witty insults greatly appreciated!!! I've done a little diagram of the road to make it clear my descriptions are rubbish normally!

I will post a pic of her soon to my profile.

Also have any of you named your bike or is that going too far ?:D

Sorry, cant help you with the parking bit....But on the naming topic, GO FOR IT!

My black beauty is named ULRICH FIRELORD, DESTROYER OF MOUNTAINS!
I know it's a little much....but it rolls off the tongue.

Get lower seat for a start, and crash bobbins :)

All you can do is fumble unfortunately. You will get used to it after a while & it will be a natural thing to do.

As for the naming of bikes, mine was called Flying Custard by a young lady I was seeing at the time, it's now been shortened to Custard. You can guess why

You could just get off the bike and push it into the space

Yep leave the stand up, and stand the opposite side of the stand seems a good idea.

Are you parking your bike facing uphill, or downhill?

Hi,

Yeah sorry did'nt mention that, the only way i can move it is by getting off and pulling it backwards by the handlebars, theres nothing to hold on to at the rear of the bike but I would say i'm doing it half right by moving her by the handle bars with hands ready on brake. But it just feels more awkward than i thought it would be!

i know what you mean jdawg. it's the same at my girlfriends, the road has a bad camber and when you have a 120kg dirtbike, it's a hell of a lot easier that hauling an SV! perhaps try backing up to the kerb, then you can just ride away? or will it not work like that??

@tweakedtay - i see you're from Calgary... i have a few relatives there! :) lol
