Cheap track tyres?

Does anyone know of any good deals going anywhere for mail order. Someone at cadwell other week reckoned they had some Bridgestone R10's (R1 sizes)delivered for £210 from holbeach! Not that fussy about brands so long as proper race rubber in 120/180 soft front , med rear preferably. Any brand will be god enough for my skill level!

FWR are worth a call, they do pair deals and sometimes have end of lines going cheap. Doing a good price on Qualifier RR's at the moment, but only got 160 rears left I think.

Just looking at that site, are the Avon ProXtreme wets really road legal!?

Might order a pair and laugh in the face of rain

On trackdayriders forum there are a few racers off loading good scrubs at a very good rate.
I always buy scrubs as they are far cheaper than new.
I tend to pick up a pair of racetecs which have done around 14 laps for around £90.
They will last me around 2/3 full days.

Yes, and very effective. I have a pair on a spare set of rims and use the front all the time (the way i have my bike set up I can change the front in under two minutes). The rear will only last about 300 miles if used properly so you need to be pretty focused on what you're doing to warrant that....

I have had good and bad experiences with ebay scrubs. Mainly bad! Last rear I got was nearly as bad as what I was replacing. I wanted a pair of new 'proper' race tyres for my first race I am planning in pre inj class for a bit more confidence.

best bet is go to a paddock with about £300 and buy up the F600 racers tyres as most will only do 10 laps on them.

14 laps!!? That is crazy. I have never understood the mentality of the club racer who thinks he/she needs a new set of tyres after each race meeting. They last much longer than that.

Your gain though!

They generally are from the BSB Metzeler Supersport class so I guess it's a bit more focused than the general club racer.

We get through two full sets of Michelin Pilot Powers a weekend on the ZX6R - three 14 lap races and two 20 mnute proper qualifying sessions with 15 minute practise sessions on Sat and Sun as well. By the end of the last race the rear is definitely completely trashed and only fit for the bin. We always debate whether we should fit another new rear for the last race and inevitably decide not to, it's always touch and go whether the rear will do the distance
