K3 Air Filter

Hi Guys,

So just recently i have noticed that when i'm accelerating my bike sounds like it's sucking in loads of air. I've had the tank up and made sure everything is ok and couldn't put my finger on the problem. Now i think about it i'm wondering if the air filter is knackered? My K3 has 8200 miles on it and so i'm guessing the air filter is the original which would make it about 8 yr old.

Is there anyway i can check if the air filter is in need of replacing?

Thanks,

Si

Just replace it. Especially if you suspect that its never been changed. They're not expensive.

Also, in the airbox, there is a little sponge type object, what is it and what is it suppose to do? it's just i notice the last time i open the airbox i has a lot of what smelt like fuel on it. Now a few months a go i had a very low speed off. Should clean this up? if so what with?

My bike is in for a service at the end of next month so i'll mention the air filter to him.

prety sure thats just an oil breather filter, if there is alot of oil residue in the mesh then you can clean it up a bit. You can get an aftermarket washable.reusable airfilter for less than 40 quid so thats probs woth getting.
