Noisy Exhaust vs Stock?

I bought my bike with a Scorpion exhaust fitted and the standard exhaust for MOT time.

I've just fitted the standard back on and I'm going to take it out in a mo to see what difference it makes to riding - if any.

What is it supposed to do? It makes a noise like a V1 rocket with the scorpion and it's loads lighter than the stock but what else will it do?

Keep an eye on the other road users. They may try and knock you off due to how awful looking it is.

It didn't make any difference to the ride, but knocked about 50% of the fun off. Other road users used to know where I was as they could hear me from 2 miles away.

I'll be putting the noisy pipe straight back on after the MOT.

I would leave it off unless you want a perfect pass, the worst they can do is give an advisory for it and some MOT guys like a loud pipe, mine used to keep telling me to take the baffle out, once I did it's not been back in.

I found the new exhaust too noisy and distracting. It looks & sounds better, makes me feel good while annoys all the neighbours at night but without earplugs it gets really uncomfortable.

Why swap it in the first place. Unless it says not for road use etc. You cannot fail. There is no noise test. It is a simple subjective appraisal.

Is it any noisier than an equivalent. No two SVs with Scorpion cans and it is no louder = pass

I always ride with ear plugs anyway, the windnoise is what bothers me at anything above 50-55 it starts to get intrusive and with them in cruising at anything above 60 means I can barely hear the exhaust (CCC oval with no baffle) obviously when I open it up I can hear it, and slowing down it makes lovley crackles and pops:smt118

Although one of my friends keeps saying it sounds like a grumpy old man, she is against anything non-standard on a bike though...

Hate em, antisocial noisy things. I want to change mine because it looks crap standard, but i want it quiet. Anyone know one that is as quiet as standard? :D

yes, darn those yobo motorbicycle riders :smt003:smt003:smt003:smt003:smt003:smt003

very much a personal thing, I ride through traffic every day so find a louder non standard can a must, but it does drone at speed, so can see why a quieter can makes sense to some riders ;)

I find a quick redline shifts the most stubborn of motorists :smt003
