Fork oil change What a pain!

i am going to change the fork oil on my 2005 sv 650 s , what a pain.

I have already spent an hour taking off the exhaust ,and getting it ready to take out the fork legs.

Tomorrow i will have to get the bike on my lift and then take off the front wheel and then get the legs out , and drain the oil.

All because Suzuki are too tight to put drain plugs in the fork legs.

What a load of sh1te

Heres a tip. Undo the retaining bolt at the bottom of the fork, before you undo the fork caps and take the springs out. Its easier I found to get the retaining bolt undo or at least crack it off with the fork cap done up tight as it keeps tension on the spring and stops the hole assembly from spinning around.

Why have you removed the exhaust?

As long as you have some means of supporting the front of the bike this is a very simple job; I reckon it should take no more than 15 minutes as long as none of the bolts are seized.

A full front end swap (yokes etc) takes about 15 minutes once everythings free of the forks

I haven't got an Abba stand either, I use a lifting strap behind the yokes to hang the bike off an RSJ in my basement. I think I'd rather take my chances using a step ladder etc. then have to remove the exhaust.

I actually meant ~15 mins to just remove the forks from the bike - will take somewhat longer to change the oil and get it back together again. Still not a big job though.
