High side?

Yesterday I came off at brands hatch and I think it was a high side. But I didn't think the sv had enough power to do that in the dry.

Any one else had this happen to then.

Old I know. But this guy has done it (the photos are brilliant).

From a noob's perspective, isn't a high side more about a loss of corner grip followed by the sliding tyre suddenly getting grip back as it is going sideways, rather than peak power?

essentially, yes. Power is not a large factor (unless you're intentionally sliding the bike), its how much grip the tyre has

Hope you're OK!

I'm worried about doing the same on my first track day (next year).

Hope you're not too badly injured! Sorry to hear another SV getting FUBAR'd :(

As has been said not really down to power but rest assured,SV has more than enough to highside! You could highside a 125 if you wanted to. Giving it too many beans while leant over and a small contact patch of tyre on the tarmac.....over you go. Especially if your tyre wasn't upto temperature yet

Don't be! I know a fair few people seem to bin it on their 1st trackday

*cough*Christoper*cough*Nobbylad*cough cough*

but it's not customary to do it! Just try to relax, ride like you're driving like miss daisy to begin with and learn the track, ignore what others are doing around you and slowly build up your pace. I bet by the afternoon session you'll be flying :)

Oh and nerves beforehand are perfectly normal and a good thing if anything, keeps you alert! I still get butterflies in my stomach the morning of a trackday and i've done 20+
