exercise or torture

the quack has said exercise and I am now running a mile before work every day.

However, concious that the weather is getting worse, the mornings drawing in etc. I have purchased a cross trainer.

Is there ever a more fiendish invention. 2 minutes and I am in agony. the daughter says she does 30 mins. I don't believe her.

Trying them out yesterday I rejected one as there was not enough resistance. FFS I only have this set on 3/8 and it starts easy. and then each second I feel those invisible jubilee clips somebody has fitted round my thighs tighten. what is the secret, go back to the running whilst I can. Or fight this monster in my garage.

Not sure 'big man' and 'get your ass down here' should be in the same sentence as 'show me how to do it' :(

Tim,
Stay with it - it will get easier. No pain no gain and you can show your ripped body to the org at next year's AR

Wifey says, relax into it, roll with the stride and you'll be up to an hour in no time. Personally, I loath the contraptions. In the gym I use the running machine and the cycle (and some weights if I'm feeling particularly masochistic) and then go for a swim to cool down (and because I'm properly cr@p at doing my stretches). I walk round the cross-trainers like they're a hole in the ground.

I've tried them all: The running machine, the rowing machine, the cycling machine.

I had to stop as I never felt I got anywhere.
