Recommended wines thread.

I don't think I've seen a thread along these lines before.
I get a bit fed up of going down the supermarket, picking up a wine, and either thinking its poor(and forgetable), or soo good, I can't remember it for next time either !

So, perhaps a nice little thread of recommendations, so I don't forget:smt120

My first recommendation is obviously Greek.
Its a sweet red wine, with a taste that can only be comparable to a nice bottle of port(which really is my drink of choice) it comes in at a reasonable £4.77 a bottle in Asda.
Lovely easy drink, chilled, sweet, with a raisin taste, that lingers marvellously.........but a warning, drinking the whole bottle will give one stinking hangover;)

Mavrodaphne of Patras. To clarify, only for those who take a liking to Port.

Post up, I want to know your favourites!

Can't beat a Lambrusco, an Asti Spumante or a Blue Nunn.

Gran Feudo Rosado...used to be £4.49 at Oddbins...I see Tesco are robbing people at £8 per bottle.

This is the best BBQ wine around.

Not a Terry Waite rose by a long way.

Whites all seem to be ok, it's the red's, 3 for a tenner, and as you say dizz some are brill some are vinegar, only you can never remember which is which, had a nice red last night only the bottle has been put in the recycling, so no help there.

If you like white wines, than Alsace Gewürztraminers are lovely. It's a slightly spicy white with a hint of lychee, usually recommended as an accompaniment to chinese food.

Just thinking about it makes me want a glass or three.

Edit: Just seen your 'I hate white' comment.
