How much for an SV pointy?

Hi all,

Tried searching but couldn't find any recent threads on this? I've been looking at early pointys (03-04) as a replacement bike for my pointy but wondered how much I should pay for one? Saw a nice 03 plate on here a while back although far, far away from me which I fancied but many said it was too expensive (I agreed). I'm suprised how much some people are asking for old ones when looking again today. I asked Suzuki for a new price and they're only £4450 this month?

For example, I've viewed one which is a quite nice 2004 model and only 11k miles with some cosmetic damage and an aftermarket exhaust. Bidding starts at £1450. I'm tempted to have a go on it! Anyway enough of my ramblings. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I had a look at trains to yours but it was looking at £130+ in each direction so I had to leave it unfortunately. I'm glad you got what you wanted for it though and that gives me a very good idea what to bid to make reserve - thanks Ian!

I think it all varies on area you are in to be honest.

I did the exact same thing a couple of months ago, although not had a bike for a while but always liked the SV so I looked around for one. I started looking at the curvy and saw a rough example that was cheap or a mint mint one but it was quite high, this is what got me looking at the newer model.

One came up on my search cheap so I went to have a look, 04 in silver, fully faired, only 8,300 miles and it had been serviced, so I had it. It was the cheapest within distance by £300-400 so I brought it for £2100 with 6 months tax put on.

HTH

There are always bargains out there, especially early pointies.

I've had a k3 Sv1000 for over a year now, and i bought it with 4k miles on the clock for £2300. I also sold my k5 650 at the same time for £2000, so just bide your time and plenty good value bikes to be had.

Just bought a brand new sv650s for£3950! try a dealer for a new one, you might get a similar deal to mine! why pay £3000 or so for a seconhand bike thats 3 years old with miles on it when you can have a brannie for a few hundred quid more!

Sounds like a bargain to me :smt119

Was it without the full fairings or do they come with it now?

This year i've bought 2 K3's, one S and one N. The N had 30k on the clock and the S had 40k. Mechanically both sound and needed no work doing to them really. Paid £1750 for the N and £1200 for the S. If you look around and keep your eyes open you can find some good gems for cheap money.

I've only seen half faired in new dealer stock.

Thanks guys, I already had a look at new ones, although my local dealer was saying that they were £4450 instead of £5105 or something in the £1 per cc deal in September. My local dealer was also only talking about only getting black ones [-( (presumably that's all he's prepared to order - I've heard bad things from others :-k), but I know they do white too. Wonder why the severe lack of choice in colours, we're getting into Ford Model T territory - are they trying to phase them out in favour of the Gladius or another model?

In the end, I decided to concentrate on older pointys as the insurance is hundreds more on a new one for me but I agree that a brand new one is appealing; 0 miles, 2 year Suzuki warranty, perfect bodywork and brand new everything! :king:
