Winter & Bigger Bike
 

Right hi all,

I've made the jump from a Rs125 - Sv, now that I own her and will be riding her through-out the winter I'm just a bit concerned about the power/(black ice).

Yea I learnt to ride gears in the snow but that's nothing compared to learning to ride a new bike and a bigger one at that.

A 125 in the snow/ice is forgiving and won't cause you too much damaged and set you back a million-billion pounds if crashed, but the sv on the other-hand.

I will be "re-learning" to ride a bike again as it's a completly different riding postion, power, weight, brakes, tyers(not much though) but theres enough to make a difference.

I will mainly be using it for work and back (around 5mile round trip) and then weekend rides (but seen as it's winter the weekend rides are off the callendar) so. I can just get the bus or ride (legpowerd bike) to work untill maybe ? Late Jan? will be a pain and hurt to see the bike not being used but I guess it's kinda a good thing.

What would you say I do?

Ride her get used to her in the winter
Not ride her and learn when weather is better.

I will no doubt have to do a winter on her anyways so is it better to start now then I'm ready for the next one on her?

Keep riding- it will improve your skills. As you probably discovered on the 125 you get a "feel" for slippery road conditions. There are many dry, sunny days during the winter months, just check the weather forecast each night and if it`s forecast below freezing for your locality then make a decision not to ride to work.

Ohh, I'll ride in the freezing but don't want to go and pay for a new set of fairing as I've only just bought some brand new ones (might have to take them off) but then I will be at risk with the grit. so theres loads of factors.

Chris that's what I'll do, if snow is forcast or snowed night before I'll make the decision at the time. best thing to do really. just getting an idea of what people would do as I'll be learning to ride the power at the same time.

Invest in a set of crash bungs they work wonders in slow speed offs :thumleft:
