HJC flip front helmets -any good?

Been off the forum for a while... New baby to look after!

Anyways. I've noticed a few good deals on the http://www.ngales.com/products_info....wTtxvOlsqHeiaYHJC IS-MAX (http://www.ngales.com/products_info....wTtxvOlsqHeiaY)

I'm thinking a flip front would be a good idea for commuting, what with filling up at petrol stations and popping into Tesco on the way in/out of work. I do a 15 mile commute from Apex Corner (basically the end of the 3 lane A1 as it gets into London) right into Shoreditch in East London. So it's a mix of 50-60mph Dual carriageways with lots of filtering and bus lane riding when I get into town.

My question is... Does anyone have a HJC flip front helmet? What do you reckon for comfort/noise. I'm currently wearing a Arai Chaser (been an Arai wearer for 8 years).

Obviously a Schuberth C3 would be the best, but as I said... New baby

I had an Airoh flip front helmet and it was flippin noisey, I've got an Arai now, which is much better.

The Schuberth would be quiet I'm sure, but as you know expensive

Shoei multitec, light, quiet and very comfortable. Can't fault it.

Shoei - £350+
HJC £130 ish.

I know you get what you pay for. I just wanted to know if anyone has an HJC flip.

There are many good reviews out there for the HJC (and thousands of rave reviews for the Shoei & Schuberth) But there's nothing like the honest opinion of your fellow org-ers who may have used something for a long time.

Look up reviews of the schuberth c3 you'll soon realise that it is one of the worst lids they have ever made...

One review I read, the guy threw his in the bin!

If he is well enough off to throw a £450 lid in the bin he can probably pay for private psychiatric care :)

BMW System 5 helmets get very good safety ratings on SHARP Helmet Safety scheme site:
http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testsratings/bmw-system-5

HJC performs poorly on the side impact:

I have a Caberg Konda flip front helmet in matt black with built in flip down sun visor, was £130 ish about a year ago, i commute 12 miles a day and yeah its good no noisier than a normal fixed front lid. I'd recommend. Shark make a decent flip front helmet.
